About Johnny
Job Jail Johnny is a tired office worker serving an indefinite sentence in a 9-to-5. He has dark swoopy hair, permanent under-eye bags, a white short-sleeve shirt with a green $ on the pocket, a lime-green striped tie, and a black coffee mug with jail bars on it that he refuses to wash.
He also has a plan. Spend less than he earns, invest the difference in boring index funds, let compounding do the heavy lifting, and one day walk out the door because he wants to, not because security escorted him.
The @JobJailJohnny account on X posts comics and memes about personal finance, FIRE (financial independence, retire early), frugality, investing, and the strange little rituals of office life. This site is the archive, plus a few free calculators and practical posts for anyone plotting their own escape.
Johnny's stuck in a 9-to-5. His spreadsheet says he can leave.
